The 5th International Symposium on the Whole Industry Chain of Biological Asphalt has come to a successful conclusion
The 5th International Symposium on the Whole Industrial Chain of Bio-Asphalt was held at Beijing University of Civil Engineering and Architecture on May 23–24, 2026. Numerous experts, professors, researchers and industry insiders gathered to conduct in-depth exchanges on technological breakthroughs, scenario applications and industrial development covering the entire bio-asphalt industrial chain. As a supporting enterprise, Beijing Aerospace Hangyu Test Equipment Technology Co., Ltd. gave full support and took an in-depth part in the entire academic event.
The symposium featured dozens of expert presentations, bringing together leading industry authorities for brilliant academic exchanges and idea collisions.
Discussions on test equipment with Professors Fini, You Zhanping, Ji Jie and Gao Junfeng during the coffee break.
UTM Products (Introduced by Professor Li Bo)
The UTM testing machine is available in four models classified by loading range and test functions to satisfy diverse test requirements:
HY-UTM-100: Capable of conducting all mechanical tests on asphalt mixtures;
HY-FPB30: Specially designed for four-point bending fatigue tests;
HY-AMPT30: Optimized for dynamic modulus tests on cylindrical specimens;
HY-UTM-S: Compact in size and can be embedded into industrial CT scanners.
Technical Exchanges on Multi-Functional Testing Machine (with Professor Ling Meng)
This equipment supports a total of 10 standard tests including Marshall test, splitting test, mixture bending test, SCB test, penetration test, pull-out test and direct shear test, fully meeting routine inspection and scientific research test demands.
Following the symposium, several experts paid an inspection visit to the Gu’an manufacturing plant of Beijing Aerospace Hangyu Technology Co., Ltd., and carried out thorough technical communications at the production site.
Discussion with Professor Fini on Asphalt Direct Tension (DT) Test
The DT tester directly measures failure stress and failure strain of asphalt at low temperatures to accurately evaluate its crack resistance. Serving as an effective supplement to the Bending Beam Rheometer (BBR) test, it particularly characterizes the superior low-temperature toughness and anti-cracking performance of polymer-modified asphalt. The complete stress-strain curve recorded during testing enables further calculation of comprehensive indicators such as fracture energy and toughness.
Discussion with Professor Ge Dongdong on OT Test
The OT test simulates the periodic opening and closing of pavement joints to directly assess the resistance of asphalt mixtures to reflective cracking. It features a short test duration and captures both crack initiation and propagation phases. With standard-sized specimens and straightforward operation, its test results demonstrate strong correlation with actual crack propagation service life and field performance of pavements.
Joint discussion with experts on the significance of skid resistance testing. Conducting laboratory tests to analyze and predict material skid resistance and simulate the evolution of pavement skid resistance is of great practical value.
Technical Exchange on Key Asphalt Aging Testing Equipment
PAV Pressure Aging Vessel
Adopting high-temperature and high-pressure accelerated oxidation, the PAV simulates the long-term aging state of asphalt pavements after 5 to 10 years of service within approximately 20 hours. It delivers temperature control accuracy of ±1 °C and pressure control accuracy of ±0.1 MPa, precisely replicating real-world aging environments. It is an essential pre-processing device for evaluating long-term anti-aging performance in Superpave Performance Grade (PG) classification of asphalt binders.
RTFOT Rolling Thin Film Oven Test
Combining rotation with forced ventilation, the RTFOT accurately reproduces the short-term aging behavior of asphalt during hot mixing and construction. It achieves high temperature control accuracy (typically ±0.5 °C). Equipped with a stainless steel inner chamber and squirrel-cage fan for agitation, it ensures uniform and stable temperature distribution inside the chamber.
Technical Exchange on Four-Channel Ductility Tester
Integrated with four high-precision tension sensors, this tester simultaneously stretches and measures force on four asphalt specimens in a single run, drastically improving test efficiency. Beyond measuring ductility, it records real-time force variations throughout the stretching process and generates force-deformation curves. Indicators including cohesive energy and toughness derived from the curves enable quantitative evaluation of the cohesive properties of modified asphalt.
The entire inspection tour concluded with a group photo of participants taken in the exhibition hall. Packed with substantial content and conducted in a vibrant atmosphere, the symposium proceeded smoothly in all sessions and drew to a successful close.
