Compacted asphalt mixture specimens are placed in a sealed pressure chamber and subjected to repeated water pressure with a Lorentzian waveform. The conditioning process accelerates moisture-induced damage within the asphalt mixture. The conditioned specimens are subsequently subjected to relevant performance tests to evaluate the moisture susceptibility and water stability of the asphalt mixture.

The equipment provides an accelerated conditioning process by applying repeated water pressure under controlled temperature conditions, generating pore water pressure within the asphalt mixture specimens. This accelerated conditioning promotes the effects of moisture and repeated water pressure on the asphalt mixture within a relatively short period of time.
During conditioning, the specimens in the pressure chamber are subjected simultaneously to water immersion, elevated temperature, and repeated water pressure. These combined effects can weaken the adhesion between the asphalt binder and aggregate and soften the asphalt binder, thereby reducing its cohesive strength and accelerating moisture-induced damage.
